Laura is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, who works with us to provide Autism assessments for young people and adults. Laura completes interview and ADOS assessments as part of our Autism assessments. She can also carry out observations in educational settings.
As a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) in the NHS, Laura has extensive experience working with a range of young people, families, schools, and other professionals. Laura is a warm and compassionate practitioner who cultivates a trusting environment resulting in excellent relationships and positive outcomes. Laura adapts her approach according to her client's needs and interests. Laura is registered with the HCPC, RCSLT & ICO.
Key experience:
- Assessing, diagnosing, and providing therapy for dysfluency, speech sound difficulties, language needs, social communication difficulties, neurodiversity, and selective mutism.
- Providing Autism specific supervision to colleagues in her community team
- Input to Early Concerns Neurodiversity Pilot programme working with education settings, specialist teachers, assistant educational psychologists, and parents to support potentially neurodiverse children.
- Developed and delivers 'Supporting Social Communication’ training to education staff and parents. Laura also provides assessments with Community Paediatricians for under-5 and for complex cases over 5s.
- Coordinates student placements and Preceptorship programme.
